October 18, 2006 (East Amherst, NY) - C2 Collections of Color, the first company in North America to create an oversized paint sample from real paint, is doing it again! The innovative company is launching its new C2 Color Sampler that will enable customers to sample virtually any color in the world. Using state-of-the-art technology, C2 can mix samples of any of its own 496 colors, samples of any of its competitor's colors, and almost anything a customer can bring to the paint counter - from vintage silk to an heirloom tomato. And, forget the dinky sized sample jars. The C2 color sampler is 16-ounces - a full pint, of superior C2 paint. Finally, enough paint to see what a finished room will really look like. The C2 Color Sampler is currently available at 70 independent paint dealers across North America.
"The C2 Color Sampler is going to dramatically improve color testing for designers and consumers," says Harry Adler of Adler's Hardware in Providence, RI, and a founding member of The Coatings Alliance. "We like to say we can mix ours, yours or theirs. Customers can sample any C2 color, virtually anything they bring into the store that will fit under our spectrophotometer, and any of our competitor's colors - all mixed in C2 paint. Ironically, most of the other paint companies offer only a fraction of their own colors as samples."
C2 also has the ability to mix any of these colors in tints or variations. So, if a customer likes the C2 color Misty Morn, but would like to sample it in a lighter value, it can be mixed at 75%, 50% or 25%. Perhaps they want to see it a little bluer or greener. C2's technology makes that possible, too.
The 16-ounce C2 Color Sampler is being well received by customers. The average sample jar is two ounces, which isn't enough paint to adequately test color in a room. A quart is simply too much paint for sampling. "This really is the perfectly sized color sampler," says Adler.
Introduced five years ago, C2 was immediately embraced by interior designers, architects, painting contractors and homeowners for its rich, vibrant colors, its superior performing paints and its advanced color tools. While most paint makers use just 12 colorants, all C2 colors are created with a sophisticated 16-colorant European tinting system. These four additional pigments enable C2 to create colors that are high in strength and opacity, giving C2 the best hiding power in the industry. And, by mixing four to seven pigments per color, instead of the standard three, C2 achieves hues of unsurpassed depth and complexity.
C2 also addressed two common complaints heard from designers and consumers: it is difficult to make selections from such small paint chips, and the paint doesn't match the paint chip. C2 was the first coatings company in North America to introduce an oversized paint sample, the 18" x 24" Ultimate Paint Chip, made with real paint - not the industry standard printer's inks or lacquers. In fact, all of C2's color tools are made from C2 paint - fan decks, generously-sized take-home chips and the Ultimate Paint Chips.
The Coatings Alliance is a group of independent paint retailers that create, supply and sell their own brand of ultra-premium paint - C2 Collections of Color. The Coatings Alliance, formed in 1998 in response to the rapid consolidation of paint manufacturers and suppliers, is the first and only member-owned co-op in the coatings field. With decades of industry expertise, The Coatings Alliance founders created a unique business model that made every retailer-member an owner of the company. Since its founding, The Coatings Alliance has grown to represent 48 members with a total of 70 storefronts in the U.S. and Canada.
