The Coatings Alliance Creates System for Dark Colors
New C2 Accent Primers Deliver Deepest Shades in Two Topcoats

Buffalo, NY - The Coatings Alliance introduces C2 Accent Color System Primers, its new primer line designed to work with the boldest colors of the C2 palette. Available in interior and exterior latex, and exterior oil, C2 Accent Color System Primers deliver outstanding coverage in a maximum of two topcoats.

"Vivid, dramatic colors are more popular than ever. Our new primers resolve translucency issues common to dark colors to ensure the uniform opacity needed for a polished finish. Now, you don't need to paint four, five, six coats to get even coverage on a deep red or orange wall. You just need to lay the right foundation," said Harry Adler of Adler's Hardware in Providence, RI, and a founding member of The Coatings Alliance.

As a general rule for any paint, the more heavily saturated the color, the more translucent the paint. Translucency yields coverage problems by allowing the base surface to show through. Up to this point, paint companies have addressed the problem by denoting the highly saturated colors in their fan decks to notify painters of the need for additional coats.

The Coatings Alliance developed the Accent Color System Primers to support its unique color palette. For the first time, a properly applied primer coat with a maximum of two finish coats achieves complete coverage. Additionally, the exterior primers of the Accent Color System block cedar-bleed and other discolorations due to resins in wood, while adding years to the longevity of a paint job.

"Over 30 years of painting projects with traditional accents like brick reds, navies and forest greens, I've seen water-based paints struggle to deliver the results of their oil-based counterparts. C2 has finally nailed the formula. It delivers great coverage and a terrific finish. The quality is in the can," said John Dee, owner of John Dee Painting and Decorating. Dee recently repainted the historic Ralph Waldo Emerson House in Concord, MA, using C2 paint.

C2 Accent Color System Primers offer customers the following advantages:
